Level 2 Instructor
I joined Farrell's in 2011. I had always worked out and belonged to another gym but was ready for a change. I had several friends who were going to Farrell's and they had nothing but good to say about Farrell's and they were right. I love the fact that everyday is something different and challenges me everyday. I love the family atmosphere and having new people to work out with everyday if I so choose.

I have been an instructor for almost two years and I love it!! I love encouraging new members and fit members alike to push themselves and find their level 10. I am so encouraged when I can get people out of their comfort zone and get them to see that they are mentally and physically stronger than they think they are.

My husband, Rich, is also a member at Farrell's and we have two daughters, Jessica, 17 and Jaci, 14.

Level 2 Instructor
I joined Farrell's in June of 2011. I had just had my second child and was tired, out of shape, and scared. I began with a co-worker and we showed up together on day 1. I remember vividly that first day of kickboxing...I was dying, dog tired, and strangely enough, I loved every second of it. I had always been an athlete and an active person, but then life got in the way. Working full time with 2 young kids gave me no time or energy to do anything for myself. I committed to the 10 week program and began to carve out that time for me daily. I lost 10 pounds in my first 10 weeks. I signed on as a FIT member and went on to lose a total of 35 pounds and a lot of inches. But more importantly, I gained strength, confidence, and I feel like a whole new person. I love the class setting and all the motivation and inspiration I've found at Farrell's. From day 1 everyone has been so encouraging and supportive. Working out is now a way of life for me. I literally plan my day around what class I'm coming to.

I began instructing in January of 2014. I was hesitant at first to lead a class. I worried that I would not be able to provide a solid workout and push people to their limits. I am SO VERY GLAD I decided to try it. I have found my passion. I absolutely love to instruct classes, and I love seeing first hand the progress people are making. I've learned that people are capable of so much more than they think they are, and I am there to help them realize that. I love watching people finish a workout that in the early weeks they never could have done. I am blessed to be a part of such a wonderful team of owners, instructors, and coaches here at FXB.

I am married to my husband Brian and we have two children: Gavin -7 and Madison - 4. I work full time as a police officer on 2nd shift. I jokingly get accused of "police brutality" in my classes...and I love it. Come join us here at FXB, you won't regret it!

Level 1 Instructor- Co-Owner

I joined Farrell’s in January of 2013. My wife had been encouraging me to join her in the program for several months. As someone who has always lifted weights and been active on my own, I didn’t think Farrell’s had anything to offer me. Because we were getting married later that year, I finally agreed to join. I was immediately impressed with the program and environment. Unlike most gyms, the environment was friendly, supportive and engaging. The kickboxing workouts were comprised of many of the things you don’t typically do at the gym like burpees, mountain climbers and floor jacks. Resistance bands challenged my muscles in a different way than free weights had done before. I didn’t have much weight to lose but I did drop a pant size on my way to tightening, toning and getting into great shape during my ten weeks. The way the Farrell’s program makes you feel is contagious, which is why I’m still at it 3 years later.

I joined Farrell's in June, 2007. I was looking for a new and different workout. I start instructing in January, 2008. The ‘we are all in this together’ philosophy is what I like most. I get to push people farther than the limits they put on themselves. I have two grown children who live in Cedar Rapids. My job requires frequent travel but I try to get to the gym as often as I can. I also like to cycle, run and participate in triathlons. My fitness from FXB contributes to my ability to do the cycling, running, swimming involved in triathlons.

I had never worked out at a gym before and wanted to give it a try. A couple of my friends told me how amazing Farrell's was for them, so I decided to go with their recommendations. The first weeks were quite tough, but I stayed with it, and haven't looked back yet. The structure of working out 6 days/week was good for me - body and mind. And the positive aspect of peers encouraging one another was also highly motivating for me.
I started instructing in November of 2016. I chose to do so because I wanted to help motivate others and help them achieve the level of self-satisfaction which my instructors helped me to achieve. That feeling of being proud of all your hard work is unbeatable. Seeing the smiling faces of people who are working toward their fitness goals means a lot to me. I love the non-judgmental environment of this gym.
Farrell's has impacted my life in great ways, and I am so excited to continue the journey and to see where the next year takes me!
